Large Labor Model
Large Labor Model is a project I built with Lukas to look at AI and the future of work differently. Most labor forecasts are built on the same bones: neat axes, clean categories, lines pointing up or down. LLM rethinks the form itself, in four ways:
- Visually: It ditches clean graphs for asymmetrical buckets. Labor doesn't organise itself within set borders, and pretending it does implies we enjoy perfect equilibrium that AI is now interrupting.
- Linguistically: It questions the permanence of job titles. If AI delivers the impact forecasted, tasks may break down and recombine in ways that we'll need new language for, not just new predictions about.
- Dimensionally: It moves forwards and backwards, letting you view all of labor at once or double-click into a single job across 200+ years of data.
- Psychologically: It's about you, not someone. LLM lets you find your own job and situate yourself in the labor pool, today and in the hypothetical tomorrow.
